Interview with Natasha Guytan Schenck, a Russian-American immigrant to Plano, Texas, concerning her life in the Soviet Union during the period of political transition, her contacts with and perception of Americans in Russia, and the process of immigration and adaptation to life in the United States. Natasha, born in Kazan in 1971, shares her memories of childhood and her studies of computer science and applied mathematics at the University of Kazan where she came in contact with American exchange students and with those involved with academic co-operation between Texas A&M and the University of Kazan. She remembers her work as a translator, focusing on her employment with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association ministries. Natasha relates the story of meeting her American husband in Kazan, moving to Plano, Texas, and her first job at Digital Communications System (later Alcatel Lucent). Divorced and remarried, Natasha was naturalized in 2000 and holds dual citizenship. She works for GenBand on Plano. In the interview, Natasha describes the process of naturalization, and expresses her views on the current social, political, and economic situation in the U.S.
